Setahun yang lalu, tepatnya pada Oktober 2014 silam, Apple meluncurkan produk tablet terbarunya dari seri iPad Mini. iPad Mini 3 dihadirkan bersamaan dengan iPad Air 2. Dari sisi desain, tak ada perbedaan mencolok bilang dibanding pendahulunya. Kendati demikian, tentu ada perbedaan dari sisi spesifikasi jeroan yang dibawanya. Salah satunya yakni adana fitur Fingerprint Sensor yang meggunakan Touch ID. Tablet Apple iPad Mini 3 mengusung teknologi layar berjenis LED-backlit IPS LCD. Layar dengan ukuran seluas 7,9 inch ini memiliki resolusi 1536 x 2048 pixels. Untuk melindungi layar dari benturan dan goresan yang tidak perlu, Apple menyematkan lapisan pelindung Oleophobic coating.

Tablet ini berjalan pada sistem operasi iOS 8.1. Performa tablet ini ditopang Chipset Apple A7 yang ditenagai prosesor Dual-core 1.3 GHz Cyclone (ARM v8-based). Agar performa tablet ini semakin mantap, Apple menyematkan pengolah grafis PowerVR G6430 dan RAM sebesar 1 GB. Tablet Apple iPad Mini 3 memiliki 3 versi media penyimpanan internal yakni 16 GB, 64 GB dan 128 GB.

Pada sektor fotografi, tak ada perubahan pada Apple iPad Mini 3 ini. Tablet ini dipersenjatai kamera utama dengan resolusi 5 mega pixel yang telah dilengkapi fitur autofocus, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, HDR photo. Apple tidak menyematkan fitur LED Flash pada tablet ini. Adapun untuk selfie dan video call, disediakan kamera sekunder pada bagian depan body dengan resolusi 1,2 mega pixel.
